  • Iraq has multiple biological zones that include the mountainous region in the north to the wet swamps along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in the center and south. As for the western part of the country, it consists mainly of a plateau and desert areas, while the eastern part of the country consists of a mountain range extending along the country containing many species of endangered mammals and birds. These terrains, in addition to orchards, constitute natural habitats for a small number of plants and animals.
