• Climate change is a natural factor and is one of the reasons that helped to cause desertification in Iraq. This change includes extreme weather conditions, the intensity of solar radiation, fluctuations in the maximum and minimum temperatures during night and day, the difference in the topography of the soil layer in the different regions of Iraq, and the prevalence of drought through the lack of rain. The available climatic data indicates that Iraq has been encountering an increase in the average temperatures, in addition to the severe weather and climatic phenomena in the form of an increase in the number and frequency of dust storms. All of these have contributed to the emergence and expansion of desertification and decline and pollution of food sources.
